  • NSPCC PANTS
  • Road Safety
  • E-safety or internet safety
  • Relationships and trusted adults
  • ‘Stranger danger’
  • ‘Life Skills’

Overview

We link with other agencies such as our local PCSO's and others who can support us in delivering clear messages of actions our children can take to keep themselves safe.

We record all incidents which concern us and inform parents / carers and multi-agencies as necessary and in line with our Safeguarding Policy.

Bracknell Forest Council also have clear guidelines for keeping children and adults safe in schools. Here is their statement with regard to visitors and parents. It primarily requests role modelling to children and secondly provides clear guidance on the treatment of staff in school and online:

Parent & Visitor Expectations

Greenshaw Learning Trust (GLT) supports school staff and local governing bodies to ensure that every school is a safe and happy place.  We expect parents and visitors to act as positive role models for all pupils.

If you have any concerns, school staff will always listen and seek to address them.  Please be aware that abusive, threatening or violent behaviour will not be tolerated.  Visitors behaving in this way will be asked to leave the premises and future access may be limited.

Any distressing, alarming or offensive postings on social media about members of the school community will be referred to the Trust’s legal team for advice and a report will be made to the provider requesting the account is closed down.

The Trust will fully support Sandy Lane Primary School in taking action to safeguard pupils and staff.

If you wish to share concerns with the school about safety and welfare (children, staff, community or premises), please refer to any member of staff who will forward your concerns to our safeguarding team of Mr Neil Davies - Head Teacher,  Miss Victoria Amor - Deputy Head Teacher, Mrs Imogene Fallis - Family Support Partner and Designated Child Protection Lead via our main contact details.

Sandy Lane Primary School is committed to safeguarding children. We work closely with all multi-agencies to ensure that children are protected from risk of emotional and physical harm or risk of harm, or at risk from neglect. We follow stringent procedures for the recruitment of staff and for visitors entering our school. Our site is monitored by CCTV and there is a high staff presence at all times in the school day. We also have regular patrols by community multi-agencies, such as our local police.

REFUGE DIGITAL PLATFORM LAUNCH

Refuge has launched a new digital platform providing support to women experiencing domestic abuse, and we want to ask for your help in telling as many people as possible.

Refuge is proud to have run the 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline as a sole provider since 1 November (having run the Helpline in partnership with Women’s Aid for over a decade). This life-saving service answers around 250 calls a day and our expert women only team provides free, confidential support to women experiencing all forms of domestic abuse. Our team links women to emergency accommodation, as well as to other forms of domestic abuse support that exists across the country. We provide emotional support and empower women with information about their rights and options, helping them increase their safety and that of their children – and begin to rebuild their lives.

Since launching the service last month we have increased the numbers of experts answering calls – and today, during 16 Days of Activism for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we are delighted to share details of a new digital Helpline platform: www.nationaldahelpline.org.uk

The web platform has been developed and informed by the needs of the women who call us, as well as our Helpline experts and international experts. It has been built with safety and accessibility at its centre.

Created by an expert global digital agency, www.nationaldahelpline.org.uk is a beautifully designed and easily-navigable space where women (and friends, family and professionals supporting women) can:

Find out about their rights and options - for example, in relation to housing, child contact, criminal and civil remedies

Contact Helpline workers via a secure web contact form that puts the power in women’s hands to decide the best time to talk to us. The web form is a safer alternative to emailing, and the first step in giving women more ways they can reach out for support

Find support to recognise the signs of domestic abuse and begin to process their own experiences

Gain reassurance about what it is like to call the Helpline and what they can expect

There are three ways we would like you to spread the word about Refuge’s new Helpline website:

If you work somewhere that supports women who experience domestic abuse, ensure any Helpline messaging is updated and new information is shared across your digital and social channels: ‘the Freephone, 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline 0808 2000 247, run by Refuge - and wwww.nationaldahelpline.org.uk are here to provide support to survivors every day of the year’

If you want women to know they are not alone, and that Refuge can support them, tweet from your personal and work accounts – ‘If you are experiencing #DomesticAbuse, you are not alone. You have rights and options, and Refuge can support you. Find out more at http://bit.ly/2pRssuS, or call the Freephone, 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247 in confidence
