Sandy Lane Primary School

ICE MESSAGES

School is open as normal.

ICE = In Case of Emergency

For most updates, we will use ParentMail. Please ensure that you have signed up to receive emails.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

We have a set of ‘in case of an emergency’ procedures. This is standard practice for organisations and particularly places where we have a duty of care to a large number of people. If we need to revert to procedures such as evacuation or lock down, then we will contact parents via the contact information that we have.

We respectfully ask that parents do not use social media for communication during these times and instead rely on our communication. This is because communicating information from school publicly could be a health and safety risk to the children, if we needed to implement an emergency procedure due to potential assessed risk of harm to them. Please can we also request that calls into school are minimised to enable us to keep phone lines free. Thank you.

EXTREME WEATHER

In the event of extreme weather conditions we will always endeavour to keep the School open. Closure would only be for Health and Safety reasons. This could be because we were unable to staff the School at an acceptable level (for the safety and well being of the children) or the grounds and/or buildings or local roads and pavements became unsafe. Parents should monitor this website page or the school’s Twitter feed (@SandyLaneBF) for up to date notifications. Once a final decision has been made by the Head Teacher, a message will be sent out to all parents via ParentMail. A message will then be sent out to Bracknell Council and the local media.

We cannot guarantee that staff will be on site to answer the phone, if the school is closed for Health and Safety reasons. Please be assured that we do our utmost to remain open and take decisions around closing the school very seriously.
