YEAR 3 LETTERS
Year 3 Visit - Butser Ancient Farm – 11th July 2022
This year as part of our topic about the Stone Age, we propose a visit to Butser Ancient Farm. The farm is a unique experimental archaeology site nestled into the rolling countryside of the South Downs National Park.
The farm features archaeological reconstructions of ancient buildings from the Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman Britain and the Anglo-Saxon period. The buildings are internationally famous and appear frequently in documentaries and feature films. They also grow crops from prehistory and keep rare breeds of animals, such as goats and sheep.
Due to a generous contribution from the SLSA, we are able to offer this trip at a reduced cost. There is a voluntary contribution of £19.50 per child which covers the cost of the coach, entrance fee and workshops. Preferably, payment should be made online using Parentmail. Children will not need any spending money.
If there are insufficient funds received to cover the cost of this visit, it will have to be cancelled and all payments will be returned. We will need to decide quite soon, so please ensure all payments are made before the deadline. If you are unable to make payment online, please return cash/cheque in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and the amount.
All permission slips need to be returned and payment made by 24th June 2022. If you do not wish your child to attend, please inform your class teacher as soon as possible so alternative provision can be arranged. Please return the attached consent form no later than 24th June 2022.
We require additional parental support to accompany us on the trip. Please can you let your class teacher know if you are able to assist. As we will be visiting a farm this trip is not suitable for pregnant ladies.
